beginning of my new book

The Secrets Of Miren
Chapter 1
A kingdom much like any other as far as the outside world could see.  For the people beyond the honorable wall of Miren, were not allowed inside its vastness.  For if they were allowed inside disastrous things were said to happen.  Centuries of Kings kept that law sacred and intact, but little did they know that one Princess would be their undoing.

“How can it be that you are the King’s daughter,” said Irvanna, “no manners, no discipline, no structure, nothing in that head of yours but fairytales and poppycock.”  Tying the bow upon Princess Magnolia’s head, the maid, Irvanna, cannot help but indulge in the Princess the lessons that have been indulged on the nieces she has taken care of.  However Magnolia is not like her cousins.  Much to her father’s displeasing, she has a free spirit and goes wherever her thoughts take her, much like her mother if you ask any of the servants or nobles.  They all say the same, Magnolia’s mother was full of love, passion, and trust.  Never was one unhappy in the kingdom.  At least, not until the disease set in.  Magnolia’s mother was infected with the black moon.  A disease that wouldn’t kill you but was said to drive you mad.  Making you kill everything in sight.  It turned you into a beast.  Some say that King Richards killed his wife so that she would never become that monster so unlike her- self.  Others say it was never a worry for the black moon, never made you kill anybody and that King Richards wanted a younger wife anyhow.  The only two who know for sure what happened is the King and his daughter not that either of them talk about it, but if you listen closely it is said that you can hear the Princess weeping over the loss of her mother in the middle of the night.  With all secrets, there is an unveiling to the story.
“I have been raised with the same spirit my mother had I am not ill-mannered nor do I have no structure.  I am the only child of King Richards.  I will not change for a simple-minded peasant.”  Irvanna knew the Princess only said this because of the way her heart had hardened after the death of her mother and abuse of her father. When Magnolia was 7 the day before her mother was infected she was in that stage where she wanted nothing more than to play with her dolls and be read to and cuddled by Irvanna.  The day after her mother passed she became distant and cruel towards all the servants, especially Irvanna.  That first day Irvanna cried for the loss of her queen, cried for the way it happened but most of all cried for the pain that had settled into Magnolia making her hateful and cruel.  Someday, Irvanna had said, Magnolia’s other half will save her from the pain she hides inside herself.
“Magnolia you will one day be the queen of this land.  You must understand your people on more than the level of who they are, rather than they are here to do your bidding.  People need to know you care.”  Irvanna knew this because the people have lost faith in their king and were said that they were going to revolt.
Suddenly there was the booming voice of King Richards and the screaming of  maid Margaret in fear.  Irvanna turned around to finish Princess Magnolia’s hair, such little things of maids screaming were regular in this palace.  However, Magnolia was nowhere to be seen.  Where has that blasted girl gotten to now?  Magnolia thought not long after the yelling got louder only it wasn’t maid Margaret who was yelling back.

Chapter 2

Limping to the door Magnolia tries to appear as ladylike as possible with bruises covering her face and unknown to everyone else down her arms and over her back.  Irvanna has decided things need to change and has been meeting with the people of the kingdom getting ready to revolt against the king. King Richard had chosen the wrong person to nearly beat to death.  Though Princess Magnolia can be cruel Irvanna knows this is only because she witnessed the death of her mother by her father’s hands.  Magnolia sits at the table trying to keep the sleeves on her ankle-length yellow dress down.  The castle this evening has a guest from a visiting civilization bringing in products that are foreign to the kingdom as a form of continuing the peace between their two tribes with the new leader, the son of the recently deceased King Emmerson.  The new ruler of the Oksana tribe is still very young he is but 4 years older than Princess Magnolia.  At 22 he is the youngest tribal leader since the late 100 B.C.
